Frequently asked questions

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are easily accessible by telephone on weekdays and would love to answer all your questions. Below we have answered some questions that we are often asked in our dental practice.

We recommend that you schedule a visit to the dentist twice a year for a periodic check of your teeth and to have any problems such as cavities detected. If unexpected complications arise, we can treat you accordingly, preventing the situation from worsening. TanDent currently still has available places for new patients. You can easily register via the registration form on our website. We will then contact you to schedule your first appointment. We look forward to welcoming you.

We welcome children with open arms to our dental practice in Rotterdam. It is very important to take your child to the dentist at an early age so that they can become familiar with the dental environment. We recommend that you take your child with you from the age of two, as at that age they understand better what is going on. A thorough check of the baby teeth and monitoring their development are essential. We will teach your child how to care for their teeth themselves and why this is very important. Making your child aware at a young age contributes to lifelong healthy teeth.

Children up to the age of 18 are entitled to free oral care in the Netherlands. Therefore, take your child to your dentist visit at an early age: in many cases major dental problems can be prevented if preventive action or intervention can be taken early and thus prevent the need for expensive treatments later in life.

Most treatments are reimbursed by basic insurance, but not all of them. For example, the costs for orthodontics and crowns and bridges are usually not (fully) reimbursed by your health insurer. We recommend that you consult your health insurer so that you know exactly which costs are covered and which costs are for your own account.

General check-ups and necessary treatments (prevention / dental hygienist, fillings, root canal treatments, photos, etc.) are reimbursed as standard for children (up to a maximum amount per year). Feel free to take a look at this website for more information: www.zorgwijzer.nl. Please note that the information on this website may not (always) be available in your language.

Every year, the Dutch Healthcare Authority determines the rates for treatments nationally. The most recent rates for the year 2024 can be found on this website. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about these rates. We are available to assist you.

Whether you are entitled to compensation depends on various factors. This includes the type of treatment you need and the specific health insurance you have taken out. Certain treatments are covered by basic insurance, while other (more complex) treatments require additional insurance to qualify for reimbursement. If you are insured, in most cases part of the costs will be reimbursed up to a certain annual maximum amount. We recommend that you contact your health insurer to obtain more information about the applicable conditions and possible reimbursements.
